Event Description

Felt - intertwined, bound together, forever as one - United



2009 is the United Nation's International Year of Natural Fibres, It will be the first year for an International Day of Felt.

Felters from around the globe will join together displaying their felt by exhibiting it outside their homes and studios.



The theme for this year will be a slice of the colour wheel, yellow through red.



People around the world will be surprised by finding yellow felt on doorsteps, orange felt birds in parks, children wearing red felt vests and husbands carrying bright felt bags to work. There will be felt in museums and felt in markets. There will be felt groups organizing open days and workshops.

...felt in trees, on cars on bicycles and on mountaintops.



This is an open call to felters around the world who have not yet heard about FeltUnited. We are asking felters everywhere to participate on October 3rd, 2009.



Display your felt - on your front door, in the park, along the road or on your car. Anywhere your heart desires... be wild! Have fun! Let the world see what you make.



Are you part of a felt group, an association or a school? Make this a project.

Our goal - to connect felters around the planet - to feel as one, part of a whole. We want every feltmaker to participate whether you have been felting for two days or a lifetime, young or old. Everyone is able and invited to participate.

Send photographs of your work as it is displayed in October to be included in an exhibit that will be available online, as well as in a multimedia presentation with www.feltunited.com. (good quality - detailed and overall images - along with contact information for credit purposes - more details and a release form available closer to the event date)



FeltUnited is currently in the planning stage for an exhibit featuring felt from around the world, as well as a multimedia presentation featuring photographs from Octobers event. More information to follow.

A typical dropped waist of the Roaring Twenties is created by a yoke over the hips. The tiers of circular flounces form a lovely vision while dancing. The scarf and the tie sash patterns are included. This pattern is quick and easy to make.

This pattern is multi-sized 8 through 20. All the sizes are in one package. Look at our National Standard size chart for your size. Sizes 8-12 require 5 3/8 Yds. of 45 inch wide fabric; sizes 14-20 require 5 5/8 Yds. of 45 inch wide fabric.

Styles of Egyptian robe with free pattern guides were discussed on the detailed pages of Egyptian Costumes. However, decorative elements were mostly confined to the removable collars on garments and other removable accessories such as headwear, girdles (striking wrap sash belts) and deep arm cuffs. But if you need a wearable costume you have to have basic body covering too, so check out my other Egyptian pages.

To complete your Egyptian costume add a collar, typical jewellery and eye make up. To be fair there are plenty of King Tut collars available at fancy dress party costume outlets online. But part of the fun of going to an Egyptian fancy dress event is making your own Egyptian inspired costume and most importantly achieving something that fits you proportion wise rather than being made as one size fits all."
