YouTube video: "Slow Fashion - Fair Trade"

Hi, everyone. I just posted my first video in YouTube -- a 2:29 minute slideshow called "Slow Fashion - Fair Trade":

Join members of weaving co-operatives in Northeast Thailand (Isan) as they create silk yarns, dye them using sustainable natural materials, and weave these organic silks and cottons into stunning textiles. These fair trade textiles are available online from http://www.tammachat.com. More stories on the Artisans page and Travel Blogs.

See handwoven beauty in TAMMACHAT's new photo album

I've just created my first photo album in Fiber Focus. Imagine the texture, drape and shimmering colours of these handwoven silks, created by women artisans in rural Thailand and Laos. I can tell you stories behind each piece, which we buy directly from women's weaving groups and development projects that work with village groups. It's an amazing, rich way to connect with women in another part of the world and our… Continue

That'll be great, Ellen!

Glad you are here! Feel free to invite other textile, fiber art friends, both fair trade people or individual artists.

Oh, great, Ellen! I'm glad you joined! I was just going to invite you as I went through your links on your email. There are several groups here that you should join, including the fair trade one, Etsy, and bloggers. Load some photos soon as you probably have potential buyers in this group who will go ga-ga over those gorgeous textiles!

You can change the template of your page to reflect your interests. And, everyone here has a blog that is linked to the front page, a nice way to introduce yourself and keep us updated of your news.

I added your blog to my blog roll on Fiber Focus. This group grew out of the blog, so I named it the same. Well, the blog is "Rayela's Fiber Focus" and this is the "Fiber Focus Group". But, it gets confusing sometime and I should have named it separately. Oh, well...

Would love to have you on as a guest on the blog. Let me know if you are interested! Welcome, jump in and make yourself at home!

Free Vintage Paper Doll Pattern

Karen's Whimsey has this free Paper Doll pattern on her website.  Clothing for the doll also available.  Images are in the public domain.

American Folk Art Doll Pattern

This doll pattern and other folk patterns can be purchased at Cloth Doll Supply.  Their description:

HISTORICAL FOLK DOLL #11
The New York Doll

This 16" doll has made herself quite famous by being chosen to be on the cover of a well-known book of American Folk Dolls, by Wendy Lavitt. She is such a good doll for a cover as she has just about all the best details of this type of doll. Separate fingers, a wonderful and exaggerated face and hair all carefully embroidered, including her remarkable feather-stitched eyebrows, and a costume of just-right simplicity and detail. She has with her the same small cat the doll in the photo has. Silkscreened for embroidery and new antiquing methods included.
Pattern (mini-kit) #PGW725 - $42.00

The same pattern is used for both feet so you only have to make one pattern. Once you make the pattern you're all set, and you can save it for making more moccasins in the future.
