Yes, you are correct. It will be art that I don't intend to wash. I can wet it again and add more paper or paint to change the image a bit. I will leave it as is and maybe try to do more on my next project. Thanks for your interest. Smiles, Diana

Hi Diana, about the paper fabric you made with Free Lunch Cafe, I assume that you would not be getting it wet. So if you used it in a textile art, then it would have to be something you don't intend to wash, Correct? Gina

This is a new mini class that I just finished fron Free Lunch Cafe. It is called Fabric paper or Paper fabric. I used muslin, stamped it with faces images, glued tissue paper and painted it with a transparent paint. It has the feel of a lightweigh...

Suzan, you will love it. You can use it as ordinary fabric applique by using a fusible on back. It does not fray. You can stamp over them. You can print on top of them from your home printer and I am sure there are many more uses. I started colle...

Diana, I had not seen this before! I have heard of people using dryer sheets as a foundation for foundation piecing. I hate throwing away the dryer sheets; now I have a good way to reuse/recycle!

I have the John Flynn quilting frame that I purchased many years ago. I tried it several times but was never satisfied that it actually made quilting easier for me. I found that I was always struggling with the frame; it seemed to be awkward and i...

Gina: your art quilts are beautiful. Eye candy! I really enjoyed looking at the photos. Hope I can get there some day as I am so new to art quilting.

Welcome, Gina! I have a feeling you won't need a lot of coaching on how to use this site. There are some tips under "Notes" on the front page. Each member also has a blog here that is linked to the front page, a nice way to introduce yourself and give us updates on what's happening with you. There is an interesting discussion there by one of our quilter members. It's titled "Am I being cranky?" or something like that. Jump in and give your opinion, too.

In fact, I am guessing that you have some leadership skills. There are a bunch of quilters here, but so far no group has formed around it. I've already started several groups and would like others to take some leadership, too. So far, everyone I've invited has felt too shy or something. I know if one were started, people would join. It doesn't involve a lot of time, just some ideas for starting discussions. Things tend to go in waves here. Quiet, then lots of action, then quiet again.

Let me know if you have any questions about how things work here. Just click on the tabs at the top and you will see where everything is. You can also change the template here. Most people seem to start bonding through photo comments, so do load some soon.

Finally, I was thinking about your blog post over on my blog. I think the first one should be about you and your work and then if you are interested in contributing regularly (which means whenever you feel like it, but once a month would be great!), I can add a tag for you and of course, each post you do can link to all your stuff online.

Free Vintage Paper Doll Pattern

Karen's Whimsey has this free Paper Doll pattern on her website.  Clothing for the doll also available.  Images are in the public domain.

American Folk Art Doll Pattern

This doll pattern and other folk patterns can be purchased at Cloth Doll Supply.  Their description:

HISTORICAL FOLK DOLL #11
The New York Doll

This 16" doll has made herself quite famous by being chosen to be on the cover of a well-known book of American Folk Dolls, by Wendy Lavitt. She is such a good doll for a cover as she has just about all the best details of this type of doll. Separate fingers, a wonderful and exaggerated face and hair all carefully embroidered, including her remarkable feather-stitched eyebrows, and a costume of just-right simplicity and detail. She has with her the same small cat the doll in the photo has. Silkscreened for embroidery and new antiquing methods included.
Pattern (mini-kit) #PGW725 - $42.00

HOW TO MAKE LENAPE STYLE MOCCASINS

The same pattern is used for both feet so you only have to make one pattern. Once you make the pattern you're all set, and you can save it for making more moccasins in the future.
