oh, and i'm always searching on craigslist for supplies/furniture for my workshop...after reading the Studio magazines I feel the pressure to make the space "pretty"...but, really, that just isn't going to happen. :) For a design wall how about using a large piece of thick felt hung from a curtain rod?

Hi Ginny, I'm working in my workshop about 15 hours a week. Even though its cool, its the going out and the humidity that has been a challenge...first it was the heavy rains and now its the humidity...going from my front door to the car zaps my energy...

As far as working goes...I'm working with heavy canvas...first it was painting on it, then I enrolled in a online graffitti painting with Alisa Burke, and now I'm thread painting on it. The canvas takes the heavy stitching very well with almost no waffling. Since I was digging the thread painting so much I ordered and have received Carol Shinn's new book on Free Motion Embroidery which is helping me understand why behind the what of it all. The pieces I'm working on are 6"x12" and it seems to be turning into a series.

I can't upload photos again but when I can, I'll upload them.

Hi Ginny, Thank you so much. I took a look at your scarves and they are very well done. If you are self taught, good for you...if not, you had a good instructor that taught you how to finish your pieces. Very nice! As far as my work. my figures just come to life on their own. They maust all be rattling around in my head somewhere and the sculptural pods etc, well...I read a lot and I spend a lot of time talking to people passionate about the environment as I am. I think the strange pods and shapes come from the melancholic child inside me that seeks out dark, sad and strange things. They often evolve into other things and are perceived differently. ..thank goodness. In any case, thank you for the kind words and please keep up the fabulous work. Oh, you should participate in this:

Ginny, I always like to see what other are doing especially when they comment on my things or my families creations. Your pieces are just beautiful. I have never seen anything like them and I've been around for a long time.

Thanks, Ginny! But know that you CAN have what's called tennis elbow without playing tennis. You advice is valid, and I'm trying to rest a bit. But fortunately (or unfortunately!) I've been selling like crazy and need to replenish.

Have a great SUnday!

Ginny, thanks for your comments on my page. It's a constant struggle for me to keep evolving. I get bored easily, so I am always looking for new fiber ideas to try. Most of the time, I create my own.

Right now, I'm struggling with carpal tunnel pain and numbness, so I'll be doing some other things to give my wrists a break.

Your nuno work is just lovely. I am crazy about felting - labors of love, for sure!

ginny, i'm still working out the space after a year...i'm waiting for a friend to contact a professional carpenter friend of her's in order to convert a executive size desk into a sewing machine table.

my design wall is attached using industrial strength velcro. if i was doing it over, i would build a larger stretcher frame and wrap in felt/fleece/ or batting and then use hooks to hang it...but then I'm using a wall in a functional only basement...kinda half finished basement...so the velcro works for that space.
