Hi Pat, I guess it was kind of a "what if?" because it was the first time I'd tried the technique out after seeing my friend's and hearing about how to do it. I like how it turned out, and have used the piece in a quilt that is almost completed. I'm…

Thanks a BIG BUNCH! Now all I need is for the Kids to be patient. That may be asking too much, but I'm going to give it a try.

Hi Julie,
I just finished looking at your photographs and am really fascinated by the close-up of the cream colored fiber/fabric one. Tell me more.
And of course I wanted to welcome you to Hot and Wet Group. Let us know what your needs are and anything you would like to contribute or comment on. We welcome everything concerning unusual fiber that you can manipulate or melt into any kind of form.
I think it would also be fun to share other work that you come across that might give us all some insight.
I will be writing to all of you again as soon as I get my act together.

Julie-

Somehow this friend request slipped by me. I saw it there, but thought it was from another site and I always check before accepting, but hadn't had time to go to the other ones.... Anyway, I do apologize! I'll be happy to be your friend, especially if you have such a handsome cat. I had a similar one, Mitchka, for 18 years. He was such good company... Now I have four monster dogs. Big difference, love them all!

Welcome to Fiber Focus! It's exciting to see this grow so quickly! You can now personalize your page (several templates available that you can tweak), load photos (takes patience!), add videos, music and participate in the forums. There are some helpful tips under "Notes" on the front page.

This group is pretty informal. Our common ground is fiber, but we can have fun with it (as long as it is respectful of all the diversity here). Please feel free to invite your friends, too.

I'm also always looking for articles from guest artists for the blog, too, so if you like to write, let me know!

Free Vintage Paper Doll Pattern

Karen's Whimsey has this free Paper Doll pattern on her website.  Clothing for the doll also available.  Images are in the public domain.

American Folk Art Doll Pattern

This doll pattern and other folk patterns can be purchased at Cloth Doll Supply.  Their description:

HISTORICAL FOLK DOLL #11
The New York Doll

This 16" doll has made herself quite famous by being chosen to be on the cover of a well-known book of American Folk Dolls, by Wendy Lavitt. She is such a good doll for a cover as she has just about all the best details of this type of doll. Separate fingers, a wonderful and exaggerated face and hair all carefully embroidered, including her remarkable feather-stitched eyebrows, and a costume of just-right simplicity and detail. She has with her the same small cat the doll in the photo has. Silkscreened for embroidery and new antiquing methods included.
Pattern (mini-kit) #PGW725 - $42.00

HOW TO MAKE LENAPE STYLE MOCCASINS
Shared by Mèssochwen Tëme

The same pattern is used for both feet so you only have to make one pattern. Once you make the pattern you're all set, and you can save it for making more moccasins in the future.
