Fiber Focus

For textile and fiber art addicts who are curious about the world.

Have just returned from 10 days in Canada, finding our new place to live. I was so surprised to find that my quilt Circus, shown on my guest blog July 14, at Rayela's Fiber Focus, sold while I was gone. You can also see Circus at my website, This sale was at 1000 Markets. This sure will help with that U Haul bill.
I have some new posts at my blog, www.contemporaryquiltart.org
I "prewrote" and scheduled about 10 posts in advance of our move, which will begin Monday July 27.
If you haven't registered to receive the regular posts as I write 'em, please do register via the RSS feed on the site.
Our new home (a rental) is on 25 acres of rolling forest about a half hour north of Toronto. I definitely will be staying a member of Fiber Focus, just from a different direction. Gina

Hi Cheryl, and thanks, belatedly for the welcome to Canada. I actually have had some free hours to start doodling with new quilt ideas. It's quite a happy adjustment for my husband and I to be among LOTS of relatives instead of just the two of us 98% of the time. And how wonderful to taste the incredible Ontario fresh field tomatoes. Wow, you are going through some major changes. I'm glad we can still keep connected through the internet and Fiber Focus. Congratulations on selling another quilt. Keep in touch!

hi Rayela, I truly appreciate your comments on a new place to live helping to revitalize an artist with new ideas and perceptions. I have been brooding on how I wish I could stay in sunny Arizona with no gridlock compared to rainy and cold Toronto and too much traffic, instead of the beauty of my new environment among the trees. Thank you for you steady and caring support.

Wow! That's great news, Gina! I'm especially happy to hear that the sale was through 1,000 Markets. I think they have a great future as an internet site. And, congrats on your new home. Sounds like it will be beautiful. I hate moving, but once it is all done, a new place can really help revitalize one with new ideas and perceptions. Stay well and don't overwork yourself!

Free Vintage Paper Doll Pattern

American Folk Art Doll Pattern

This doll pattern and other folk patterns can be purchased at Cloth Doll Supply.  Their description:

HISTORICAL FOLK DOLL #11
The New York Doll

This 16" doll has made herself quite famous by being chosen to be on the cover of a well-known book of American Folk Dolls, by Wendy Lavitt. She is such a good doll for a cover as she has just about all the best details of this type of doll. Separate fingers, a wonderful and exaggerated face and hair all carefully embroidered, including her remarkable feather-stitched eyebrows, and a costume of just-right simplicity and detail. She has with her the same small cat the doll in the photo has. Silkscreened for embroidery and new antiquing methods included.
Pattern (mini-kit) #PGW725 - $42.00

HOW TO MAKE LENAPE STYLE MOCCASINS
Shared by Mèssochwen Tëme

The same pattern is used for both feet so you only have to make one pattern. Once you make the pattern you're all set, and you can save it for making more moccasins in the future.
